A fine pocket prayerbox for English-speaking Orthodox

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America introduced this pocket prayerbook in 1956 and it has gone on to become one of the most popular in the English-speaking world. It is divided into three general parts. The first contains the prayers for morning, mid-day and evening, as well as dozens of occasional prayers such as that before an icon of Christ, for married people, and for the sick. The second part consists of some general outlines of theology meant for personal reflection, such as "The Seven Grievous Sins" and "The Chief Aids to Penitence". The third part is the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, though unless you worship in the Antiochian Archdiocese you won't be able to follow along with this at liturgy since your jurisdiction's translation probably differs slightly.
This is the only English-language Orthodox prayerbook that is this large yet takes up so little space in one's pocket. I recommend it.

Much in a small space

According to the 1980 Foreward by Metropolitan Phillip of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, this small book is "the most popular and highly distributed Orthodox prayer book in the English language". This is easy to understand, for the book(let) gathers three parts: Daily Prayers and Spiritual Helps, Prayers and Devotions for Confession and Holy Communion, The Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom; plus an appendix, Prayers for Various Occasions.
Despite some differences in the translation of the Divine Liturgy presented here, and that used in other Orthodox Churches (the Divine Liturgy of Saint Basil is also in use some places, and on some occasions), this book collects togeather in a convenient package most everything necessary for "the more immediate spiritual needs of the Orthodox Christian", as Metropolitan Phillip writes.
My only suggestion would be to reset the Appendix in a slightly larger, and somewhat less muddy typeface. But this is only a quibble. I consider this a vital possession for any Orthodox Christian, but especially for converts--or even would-be converts. It is both succinct and useful.

Great introduction to prayers

I just started going to church again, and I really want to carry over my spiritual life into the everyday. The pocket prayer book is perfect with prayers, the Divine Liturgy, and even some little extras like the commandments. It is easy to take everywhere for some quiet reflection. The cover is beautiful and the book itself is extremely useful.
I believe this is a book created in the Antioch tradition, but do not let that limit you, all orthodox believers would benefit from such beautiful prayers. The prayers are well written, cover every circumstance, and really encourage spiritual growth. They are selfless and devotional. I also think the prayers are comprehensive, as you say the creed, the Lord's Prayer, as well as the trisagion and troparia. It is a thorough way to express devotion and thanksgiving, and beg for repentance and mercy.
This is an excellent companion to attempt a more devout life everywhere, everyday!
I highly recommend.
