I have a new bookboyfriend and his name is Simon Ferguson! What an amazing reading!, Iris Parker did a wonderful job with this book.
After reading this book I knew it was one that I would love for many reasons, but mostly for being very different.
After thirteen years of not seeing Simon and Emilia meet again when he makes a major donation to the rec center where she works. Simon is not only a successful rugby player and is sexy as hell, but it has also changed his attitude Emilia and appears to be ready to right the wrongs of the past. Coexisting daily Emilia and Simon not only realize how different is their relationship, but also sparks fly between them.
This couple fascinated me! The attraction between them was palpable since their first meeting. The sexual tension is maintained throughout the book, it was interesting how the writer knew at what point all that stress, chemical and energy between them explode! It was really sexy when I read it!
I liked the fact that the characters were very mature, it was something that in my opinion changes many aspects of this book. No unnecessary drama, just enough to make me feel connected to the characters.
In fact the characters individually were very attractive and both have their point of view.
"Still, I had to admit, he was doing a damn good job. And even worse, he was damn freaking sexy while doing it."
Emilia definitely knew how to stand out in all the book with his strong, sexy and attractive personality. I loved her sense of humor. Emilia personality is very pleasant throughout the book has a good balance, it is not too dramatic.
"She was in my veins, taking over all the space that kept me from going insane."
And Simon OMG! This guy is not just sexy as I said before it makes your heart melt with all his masculinity. It is a very sweet but at the same time very sensual man. In the sexy parts of the book I literally melted.
But this couple really worked together not only by their personalities, but also by the slow and sexy way to fall in love. They were very functional, balanced each other. It was very refreshing to know that both had had other partners before being together, that made it a little more real.
This book not only stands out for its amazing characters, but also by the writing style of Iris Parker, is very refreshing, natural, nice, fluid and builds a story with many angles but knows how to soften.
Iris Parker made a solid debut with the story of Simon and Emilia.

Awesome Debut Novel!

WOW! As a debut novel, Ms. Parker blew me away!
"Hooked" was written by a real pro! The story was deep, kept me hanging, slowly giving tidbits of what Simon did to ruin Emilia's life and revealing why he did it.
How ironic was it that Emilia was working in the Goodman Rec Center in his hometown of West Field, Colorado?
Having lost funding to keep the doors of the rec center open, Emilia discovers a donor comes to the rescue the day before its due to close. There's just one stipulation: they have to form a boys and girls rugby teams to compete during the summer. There's even brand new rugby gear waiting in the gym. When she discovers it's her stepbrother, Simon, old, painful memories come rushing back and the hate she thought she'd buried long ago rears its ugly head with a vengeance! Better yet, Simon will be one of the coaches! How can she work with someone that ruined her life thirteen years ago?
As the summer progresses and the teams shape up into something to be proud of, and Emilia grudgingly has to admit Simon has matured from the ruthless, angry teenager she once knew.
Simon is determined to get Emilia's forgiveness, and struggles with the feelings he's had for her since he first laid eyes on her so many years ago.
He knows she's too good for him, but he can't resist the attraction between them, and neither can she. Can they get past the pain of so long ago, and the fact they're step siblings to explore the feelings they have for one another?
This is such an awesome book, I recommend it to anyone that loves a good romance with a little angst mixed in.

Sports Bring Together

Simon and Emilia are step siblings who have not seen each other in thirteen years. He has become a work famous rugby player and she is working in a community recreation center helping underprivileged children. After that length of time why does he show up in the same town as Emilia?
Their parting thirteen years ago had not been amicable. He felt left out by his father and he in a harsh way had struck out at Emilia. But he was hiding two things from all those around him. He blamed himself for something that happened to a friend of his years before and the desire that he felt for Emilia. On her part she had feelings for Simon but could she forgive him for the way he had left all those years before? As they work together to teacher the rec center children rugby the iciness of their relationship starts to melt away and the attraction grows.
But Simon faces the demon from his past and figures that it has ended any hope of him and Emilia being together. He runs back to England but will the attraction between the two be enough to draw him back?
An excellent book and well developed characters. The telling of the story through both Emilia and Simon makes it more interesting because the readers can see what is going on each of their minds as the tension between them builds. Very good job. I received this book free in return for and honest review.
